UFC 162: Dave Herman must pass drug test today to fight Gonzaga

Esther Lin for MMA Fighting

The NSAC has licensed UFC Heavyweight Dave "Pee Wee" Herman to fight at UFC 162 provided he passes a drug test today.

UFC Heavyweight Dave "Pee Wee" Herman is set to face Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 162 but the twice-suspended fighter had to run a gauntlet at The Nevada State Athletic Commission today and still has to pass a drug test today before he can fight.

Herman has twice failed drug tests for marijuana in his UFC career. Once before UFC 136 where he was set to face Mike Russow and once following his UFC 153 loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

The UFC imposed a six-month suspension following the UFC 153 drug test and mandated that Herman go to rehab for marijuana.

Kevin Iole was at the hearing and tweeted it live:

Hopefully Herman can pass his drug test today and the fight can go on as planned. One factor in Herman's favor is that the NSAC has raised the level of marijuana metabolites required to fail the test.
