Let me start this post by admitting I am an unashamed Fedor nuthugger. The man can do no evil as far as I am concerned. His style is the epitome of MMA to me, mixed parts aggression and finishing instinct paired with a technical savvy that is matched only by Anderson Silva at a close second (IMO). The way he was able to dispatch his opponents with such brutality yet remain cold and calculating at the same time set my own personal standard for how a fighter should approach his competition; yet at the same time, his life outside of the cage/ring was defined by an endearing humbleness and legitimately warm aura that showed he was only there to ply his trade, not to revel in violence.
I am not a great artist. You could say I am good, but that would be debatable. Rather, I enjoy sketching/drawing in my free time, with my medium of choice being Micron fine tip pens. This particular piece was done with a .005 fine tip Micron pen on a 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. One day while browsing the internet, I came across a picture of Fedor made up of what looked to be roughly cut out Russian newspaper clippings....I immediately decided to redraw the picture with my own twist. Using only 3 words (The Last Emperor) I redrew the entire piece, using progressively larger words words to achieve a level of depth to the piece. Not saying this is a particularly great bit of art, but I figured my fellow Mutherfukers would appreciate something including one of the greatest fighters of our time. Hope you all enjoy =]
