The UFC has already been to Brazil 3 times this year, and they will make return trips in August (UFC 163) and September (UFC on FS1 #3). Earlier this week it was reported that the FS1 card would be held in Belo Horizante and feature flyweights Joseph Benavidez against Jussier Formiga. According to MMA Junkie and Portal do Vale Tudo, the UFC will add Glover Teixeira versus Ryan Bader and Ronaldo Souza against Yushin Okami to the fold.
Teixeira (21-2) has won his last 19 fights, and obviously that makes him a perfect 4-0 in the UFC. He was originally due to face Bader at UFC 160, but a knee injury meant Glover would fight James Te Huna instead. The Brazilian easily submitted Te Huna in the 1st round to continue his hot streak. Bader (15-3) has fought once in 2013, a swift guillotine choke vs. Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC on Fox 6 -- Teixeira also beat Quinton Jackson later that evening -- to record his first submission in his UFC career.
Jacare (18-3) easily put Chris Camozzi to sleep with an arm triangle choke at UFC on FX 8 in Santa Catarina, Brazil. The decorated BJJ black belt was supposed to fight Costa Philippou that night, but a facial cut forced the late change of opponent. Okami (29-7) has recovered very well from his knockout losses to Anderson Silva and Tim Boetsch with three straight wins over Buddy Roberts, Alan Belcher, and Hector Lombard.
It would be logical to think that you're looking at the main and co-main events respectively. UFC on Fox Sports 1 #3 will happen on Wednesday, September 4th. The main card will air live at 8 PM ET and last at least 2 hours before the season premiere of The Ultimate Fighter: Tate vs. Rousey.
