It's ain't Cooperstown, but it'll do.
Yesterday UFC president Dana White was inducted into the Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame where he'll join the likes of tennis great Andre Agassi, the Fertitta family, Marc Ratner, former UNLV basketball stars Larry Johnson, Greg Anthony, and Stacey Augmon, coach Jerry Tarkanian, MLB pitcher Greg Maddux, and former NFL quarterback Randall Cunningham.
"To be honored in a place that I love, that I call home, I love this city and for them to induct me, it really does mean a lot," said White to FOX5 news, Las Vegas.
In his induction speech, White emphasized the magnitude of Zuffa's investment in the sport before it became successful:
"As you know, we were losing a ton of money on this thing," White said during his induction speech. "We were $44 million in the hole but we never gave up. That's some big money.
"People always say that they're honored, but I truly am honored tonight," White said. "People always ask me to look back on what all we've accomplished and what we've achieved. We still haven't achieved what we set out to do."
