Hector Lombard (32-4-1, 1 NC) came into the UFC from Bellator with a huge contract and huge expectations. But after going just 1-2 in his first three UFC middleweight fights, it appears that he has finally decided to drop to welterweight. He had been flirting with the move for several months, talking about making test cuts and asking fans what they think of the move though twitter. But according to UFC Tonight, it's now official. Host Ariel Helwani shared the news via twitter:
Report on @ufctonight: Hector Lombard told me today he has officially decided to go to 170. Currently weighs 192, usually he's 220.— Ariel Helwani (@arielhelwani) June 19, 2013
More Lombard: wants to debut in the fall against Marquardt. Marquardt's response when asked about the fight: "yeah, why not."— Ariel Helwani (@arielhelwani) June 19, 2013
Geez, Joe Silva's job is getting easier and easier. Between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Stefan Struve basically booking a fight, and now this, it seems that all he has to do is send out bout agreements. I like this fight though, so hopefully it does indeed become a reality.
