The biggest boxing bout in years takes place on pay-per-view on September 14 live from Las Vegas, Nevada when Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez face off for Alvarez's WBC &The Ring Light Middleweight titles, and Mayweather's WBA "super" Light Middleweight title.
The bout will be contested at a 152 pound catchweight.
Showtime's Stephen Espinoza tweeted the photo this evening:
Many pundits agree that this is will be the biggest boxing event, if not the biggest combat sports event, since Mayweather fought Oscar de la Hoya in 2007. The 36-year-old Mayweather is 44-0 with 26 of those wins by KO. The 22-year-old Alvarez is 42-0-1 with 30 KOs.
Some speculate that the less than incredible numbers from Mayweather's PPV debut for Showtime this year are the reason he's willing to take on as formidable opponent as Alvarez.
