This fight marks Broner's debut for Showtime after the Top Rank/HBO vs. Golden Boy/Showtime split, and it's a big fight for the young potential superstar in the making. Adrien Broner is a polarizing fighter - one who brings a tremendous amount of showmanship to the ring. That has earned him plenty of enemies as well as fans, but it's definitely made him a much discussed fighter. That's one of the ways you become a superstar, and Adrien Broner definitely has superstar potential - as he will gladly tell you. The questions about Broner's future have to do with his in-ring skills. Many question his quality of opposition, along with the fact that he has had moments of trouble against lower tier opponents. This fight is a big opportunity for Broner to continue his rise and to demonstrate his skills.

Paulie Malignaggi is the perfect Broner foil. He's a brash talker, just like Broner. That has already produced verbal fireworks between the two men, which will only continue as the week progresses. He's a known fighter, both for his in-ring career and his position as the color analyst for Showtime. He's a relatively small 147 pound fighter, which is good for Broner's first time at the weight. He's also, despite his veteran status, most definitely beatable.

Put it all together and you have a potentially very entertaining fight that people will want to see, but which also heavily favors a Broner KO victory. And for the always rising Broner, that's most definitely a good thing.

Maliganggi vs. Broner caps off a triple-header on Showtime. Opening the broadcast will be Sakio Bika vs. Marco Antonio Periban. That's followed by a Heavyweight rematch between Johnathon Banks and Seth Mitchell.
