UFC 162: Silva vs. Weidman fight card

Mark J. Rebilas-US PRESSWIRE

A look at the UFC's July 6th PPV in Las Vegas, headlined by a middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman.

UFC 161 wasn't good, was it? Well that's okay, because UFC 162 promises to be a great card filled with interesting and potentially exciting fights. Chris Weidman, only a week or so removed from stopping Mark Munoz, has earned his title shot against middleweight champion Anderson Silva. There were rumors that Silva was injured and that this fight was in jeopardy, but it appears those rumors are false and this card (for now) doesn't risk plunging into the bottom of Lake Mead.

Featherweight contender and former LW champion Frankie Edgar fights Charles Oliveira in the co-main event, in what is Edgar's first 3 round fight since beating Matt Veach in 2009. We're still waiting to see what will happen to Ricardo Lamas now that Chan Sung Jung is fighting Jose Aldo at UFC 163. Dana White said that if Lamas doesn't get a fight he'll still get his show money.

Here's what the card, scheduled for July 6th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, looks like:

Main Card:
Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman
Frankie Edgar vs. Charles Oliveira
Roger Gracie vs. Tim Kennedy
Ricardo Lamas vs. TBA
Dennis Siver vs. Cub Swanson
