The main event of UFC 161 was a three-round affair between former light heavyweight champions Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans. Hendo started well, but faded a bit late and it was enough for Evans to pick up a split decision win. You can check out the video highlights above, or read my play by play of the final round below.
Round 3 - Evans has a small cut over his eyebrow. Hendo charged forward with a left but whiffed on it. Evans landed a jab, then came forward with a combination that slightly wobbled Dan. They exchanged jabs and Hendo missed with the right by a mile. Evans scooped a single but Hendo fought him off. They clinched up and Hendo scored with a knee to the guy. Rashad backed out, threw a nice combo that landed, then tried to get a takedown again. Henderson stopped him once again though. They clinched again and Evans landed a flurry of short rights. He landed another nice shot and wouldn't give Hendo any space. Rashad scooped a single and Hendo clubbed him with an elbow. Hendo swung and missed, while Evans landed one more jab late. 10-9 Evans, and 29-28 for him on my card.
