Mikey Garcia def. Juan Manuel Lopez by KO round 4 1:35
Over the course of four rounds, Mikey Garcia put a real beating on the veteran Juan Manuel Lopez. Normally a slow starter, Garcia here had his second fight in a row with early knockdowns. After a more typical Garcia opening round of finding range and using the jab, Garcia opened up in round 2, scoring a knockdown there. He continued the assault in round 3 before landing a nice combo in round 4. Juanma was dropped hard midway through the fourth and the fight was stopped.
Post-fight, Max Kellerman asked Garcia the big question - where would he be fighting now? The 126 pound fighter lost his belt on the scales yesterday by coming in to this fight at 128 pounds and refusing to cut the extra weight. Here, Garcia said that he was open to fights at either 126 or 130.
Overall, a very good showing from Garcia, though still not a fight where he was truly challenged. As for the once great Juanma, it's painfully clear that he is no longer the fighter he was before the Salido fights, as he was deeply in over his head here. Sad to see him so faded.
