UFC 165: Jon Jones opens as huge favorite over Alexander Gustafsson

USA TODAY Sports

The light heavyweight champion is the overwhelming favorite over the challenger for their UFC 165 bout according to the opening line.

It looks like linemakers don't think Alexander Gustafsson has much of a chance in his UFC 165 title bout with champion Jon Jones. The betting line is now out, and Gustafsson opened as even more of an underdog than Chael Sonnen did before he faced Jones. Here's the line (via BestFightOdds):

Only one site (Sportsbook) is offering the line right now. 5Dimes will undoubtedly drop their line soon, but I can't see it being much closer than an already-established line that's out there. Jones' bout with Sonnen at UFC 159 opened at around -600/+400, but Jones was bet up pretty much immediately.

Frankly, I'm surprised that Bones is this much of a favorite here considering that Gustafsson does bring some unique stuff to the table. I don't think I'd be venturing a bet on him though, even if Jones might be coming back a tad bit early from his toe injury. It's an interesting line either way though. Is anyone here willing to drop some cash on Gustafsson at+500?
