Unfortunately for Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and his fans, he did get hurt at UFC on Fuel 10 after all. On the night of the event, Nog's coach Luiz Dorea tweeted that he had an x-ray on his arm following an armbar loss to Fabricio Werdum, and there was nothing broken. Apparently an MRI has uncovered some ligament damage though, and Big Nog is set to go under the knife today. Tatame relayed the sad news.
Nogueira (34-8-1, 1 NC, 4-4 UFC) a former Pride and interim UFC heavyweight champ, has had surgery on his arm before. Frank Mir snapped it with a kimura at UFC 150, and he was out for a while getting it fixed. In fact, he had 16 screws inserted into his humerus. He did return a bit early, but he submitted Dave Herman at UFC 153 nonetheless.
It's too bad that he has to have surgery again, especially since he's not getting any younger. According to the article, the surgery will only keep Nogueira out for eight weeks.
