We all know that UFC light heavyweight Chael Sonnen tries to run his mouth whenever possible, and he has always been very quotable whenever Jim Rome invites the American Gangster onto his show. This week he was a part of a roundtable discussion with NFL player Brandan Ayanbadejo and former NBA player Tom Tolbert, and he managed to insult NBA great Lebron James pretty quickly in the above video:
I think Lebron's a dork. I don't understand this whole thing. You have to understand too that it frustrates me to hear that these guys are world champions. Look, he won one world championship, and it was in the Olympic games. It's so aggravating to hear someone win an NBA title and and be called a world champion. It was only done in America. If you're not a global event where everybody can participate, you won a national title.
He continues on at the end, dragging retired NFL player Ray Lewis into it after taking another shot at Lebron:
Lebron's a nerd. You got this guy, Lebron's a wimp. You got this nerd named Ray Lewis. It's like, if I saw both of these guys I'd smack them in the face just on principle.
The funniest part of the whole thing is Rome saying "Did you just say that you'd smack Ray Lewis?" at the very end. Later in the interview (which isn't included in the video above), Chael opened up about his TRT use (transcribed by Bleacher Report):
"I didn't have high levels (of testosterone), I had a separated T to E (testosterone to epitestosterone) ratio, which is not illegal. I was in trouble for the disclosure issue and they gave me six months. Testosterone's not illegal, which we all found out. It's perfectly legal. I followed all the rules as I understood them and yes, I took it to get an edge. I would never take anything if I didn't think it would help me. I took testosterone that was perfectly legal, and I did not have elevated levels. I wasn't even accused of that. The media did that to me."
I'm sure people will have something to say about that. Chael will return to the octagon on August 17th when he meets Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in the main event of UFC on Fox Sports 1 1.
