Bellator 97: Douglas Lima injured, fight with Ben Saunders delayed once again

Bellator.com

You didn't think you could go a week without injury news, did you?

Bellator 97 looked to be one of the better cards in the promotion's history. The July 31st card featured two title fights plus a welterweight tournament final rematch between Douglas Lima and Ben Saunders. You can scrap the Lima/Saunders rematch, as Lima confirmed he has suffered another injury and is off the card:

The two were scheduled to meet at Bellator 93 but Lima broke his hand, causing the delay in the season 8 tournament final. Lima previously knocked out Saunders at Bellator 57 to win the season 5 WW tournament, only to lose his title fight with Ben Askren by unanimous decision.

Askren will be defending his title at Bellator 97 against Andrey Koreshkov, while lightweight king Michael Chandler fights David Rickels in the other title fight of the evening. Additionally, Patricio Freire takes on Rob Emerson in the featherweight division.
