Sefo, 42, announced Monday on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani that he'll be competing at the upcoming WSOF 4. The event is currently slated for Aug. 10 from Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, California. Although Sefo's opponent is yet to be named, the former K1 star joins a lineup already featuring a former opponent in Tyrone Spong. A lightweight fight Tyson Griffin and Gesias Cavalcante has also been confirmed by the promotion, although bout agreements haven't been signed.
For a company that's only put on one heavyweight bout in three events, the addition of Sefo could be a quick way to bolster the division. A previously cancelled bout between Rolles Gracie and Dave Huckaba was originally slated for the main card of Friday's WSOF 3 (11 P.M. EST on NBC Sports Network) before Gracie was forced to withdraw due to injury. Either could serve as Sefo's opponent, Huckaba being the more likely choice.
Having fought professionally in boxing, kickboxing and MMA, Sefo hasn't been active since his 2012 decision loss to former PRIDE open-weight champion Mirko Filipović in a kickboxing bout. As for MMA, Sefo most recently suffered a first round submission loss to Valentijn Overeem at Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva back in February 2011.
