An injury to Cat Zingano has given Miesha Tate a really good opportunity. Despite losing to Zingano in her last bout, Tate will step in for her to coach on The Ultimate Fighter 18 against her biggest rival, Ronda Rousey. Rousey famously defeated Tate in Strikeforce, but they're going to go at it again in December. The UFC has released a video with the fighters in question and UFC president Dana White sharing their thoughts on the whole deal. Here's a portion of what Tate had to say:
"It's unfortunate for Cat, her injury, but the UFC is all about opportunities. I was so stoked when I heard I was gonna get the potential spot to coach against Ronda and our rivalry, I think it makes for better TV and I get to fight here again."
And Rousey's response:
"I've always respected Miesha as a fighter and I've always respected her as an athlete. How we feel personally really has nothing to do with that. I think she's entirely legit, but I don't feel bad about hitting her."
The show will debut in September on Fox Sports 1.
