The Curious Case of Alan Belcher's Ankle Wraps

I was recently re-watching the Belcher vs Bisping fight, and I noticed something that bothered me at the time of viewing it, as well as during the re-watch, in that Belcher's ankle wraps were cut off literally seconds before the fight begun. So I didn't read or post on the live thread and I have yet to see it addressed, so my apologies if this has already been covered, but what was the reasoning for the removal of the wraps? When they took off his wraps, you could see that the tape on his ankles were signed off by someone of the Athletic Commission so I assumed that he would have been cleared to wear them. With that observation I was even more confused and a bit more angered considering how the rest of the card was playing out. To me at least, Belcher seemed very off. His timing looked off, he looked slower even at the beginning, he looked more hesitant than I have ever seen him, and I was curious as to if perhaps he was trying to fight through an ankle injury by wrapping them nice and tight. Alright BE, help a brotha out, what was the deal with the wraps? Grazie!!
