On Saturday night, the best boxer on the planet today, Floyd Mayweather, faces the challenge of Robert Guerrero, live on PPV. Showtime Boxing Mayweather vs. Guerrero airs this Saturday, May 4 live on pay-per-view with a fight time of 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT. Bloody Elbow will have live fight night coverage, including results and discussion.
With just one day left until fight time, betting odds on the fight are pretty settled, and (surprise, surprise), they heavily favor Money Mayweather. Here are the odds from online betting site Bovada:
Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. -750
Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero +475
Odds for Mayweather vs. Guerrero are most definitely lopsided, but that's what will happen when you have the pound for pound best in there.
For those who have been following Floyd's career, this is pretty much exactly what you would expect. Ever since his fight with Oscar De La Hoya in 2007, Floyd has been a roughly -700 favorite in all of his fights. The lone exception was his clash with Ricky Hatton, where Hatton's passionate fanbase drove the line down somewhat.
At this point, it's probably only Canelo Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao who would lead to a significantly more even line for Floyd, and given Pacquiao's loss to Marquez, I'm not even sure that one would be too close.
