Josh Barnett vs. Frank Mir set for UFC 164

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

Former UFC heavyweight champion Josh Barnett will make his first UFC appearance in over 11 years when he meets Frank Mir at UFC 164 on August 31st.

Fans have wanted to see these two heavyweights fight each other, and they'll finally get the chance on August 31st in Milwaukee. Newly-signed Josh Barnett will fight in the octagon for the first time since 2002 when he meets former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir. The UFC tweeted the news just minutes ago:

Barnett (32-6) recently re-signed with the UFC after a run in Strikeforce where he was the runner up in their Heavyweight Grand Prix. He last fought in January when he defeated Nandor Guelmino by submission on the last Strikeforce card. Mir (16-7) is coming off a decision loss to Daniel Cormier, the last man to beat Barnett, at UFC on Fox 7 last month.

The bout will obviously take place on the main card. No headliner has been confirmed for the show as of yet.
