UFC 160 results: Dennis Bermudez scores split decision over Max Holloway

Esther Lin for MMA Fighting

Throughout their 3-round affair Holloway used his reach advantage to damage and outpoint Bermudez and win the decision.

Both Dennis Bermudez and Max Holloway were looking to extend their Featherweight win streak to four fights when they met in the UFC 160 FX prelims.

Round 1 got off to a slow start. Bermudez clearly struggled with the reach advantage while Holloway showed solid lateral movement to avoid damage and landed some counters. Spinning back kick from Holloway dropped Dennis. Bermudez clinched up to recover.

Holloway completely dominated this fight. He ate very few solid shots from Bermudez while piecing him up with straight punches of his own. Leg kick from Bermudez tripped up Holloway and he followed that up with a clinch against the cage. Holloway used the whizzer to separate and escape before returning to outpounting Dennis.

Bermudez finally secured a takedown early in the final round but Hollow shrugged it off oto return to his feet. Holloway out struck from distance again before Dennis closed distance for the clinch. His success didn't last long before Max escaped. Bermudez just can't handle Holloway's reach advantage. He got a takedown and landed some solid ground and pound from half-guard. Mike Goldberg actually said it well, "It just took Bermudez too long to get it in this position." Too little, too late.

Max Hollow beat Dennis Bermudez by split decision (29-28 x 2, 28-29).
