The televised broadcast for FX 8 took off with the Fuel TV prelims. The first three fights on the card brought a lot of action for fight fans.

The Fuel TV prelims started off the televised broadcast of UFC On FX 8. The show took off with Maldonado grabbing his second UFC win by brutalizing Hollett throughout the final two rounds of their fight. The Bantamweights followed that up with Alcantara making short work of Santos. Thiago and Santos went back and forth for 15 minutes for the 3rd fight of the show.

Paulo Thiago vs. Michel Prazeres

Prazeres wasn't afraid to bring the fight to Thiago in his debut as a UFC Welterweight. He locked Paulo up in the clinch early in the first relentlessly pursuing the takedown. Referee Mario Yamasaki broke up the action and the two exchanged shots from range. In the closing seconds, Prazeres took control against the cage again.

Thiago got on top of Prazeres early in round two, but Michel escaped when Paulo looked to take back mount. Prazeres secured a couple takedowns, but Thiago reversed to get on top in the final minute. He advanced to half-guard, but couldn't finish in the limited time remaining.

The action slowed early in the third as both fighters looked to strike from range. Thiago's striking looked crisper except for a big uppercut that landed from Michel. Back against the cage, Thiago defended another takedown attempt from Prazeres. They separate and both men are looking tired as the round winds down. Thiago hit a late takedown and advanced to side control while landing strikes in the closing seconds.

Paulo Thiago picked up the Unanimous Decision (29-28 x 3) over Michel Prazeres

Yuri Alcantara vs. Iliarde Santos

Alcantara brought his violent striking game in early in the fight. Santos saw some short success pinning Yuri up against the cage, but it didn't last long. Alcantara landed a straight left to the chin and followed him down with ground strikes to get the stoppage.

Yuri Alcantara got the TKO over Iliarde Santos at 2:31 of round 1

Fabio Maldonado vs. Roger Hollett

In the Light Heavyweight opener, Hollett tried to push the action early with an overhand right. He cut off the cage and threw a powerful spinning back kick that landed low. Maldonado laid on the mat in pain but declined to see a doctor before the fight restarted. Hollettscored a takedown shortly after the restart but didn't do much with it. Back on the feet and Hollett controlled Maldonado against the cage until it was broken up by referee Leon Roberts. Another takedown by Hollett.

Maldonado started to find his rhythm in the second round. After a slow start Fabio caught Roger up against the fence and reeled off body shots. He wasn't taken down at all and had Hollett looking visibly worn. Maldonado got right back to it in round three. He got Hollett backed up into the fence and pummeled him with body shots and uppercuts in the clinch. Halfway through the round Hollett looked exhausted. Late in the round Maldonado scored a takedown of his own.

Fabio Maldonado took the Unanimous Decision (29-27, 29-28, 29-27) over Roger Hollett.
