We have our 2nd confirmed fight for UFC on Fox Sports 1 1 in Boston, MA, as lightweights Joe Lauzon and Michael Johnson are set to face each other on August 17th. The news was confirmed by MMA Weekly.
Lauzon (22-8) is known for his incredibly entertaining wars and ability to finish off his opponents in victory. His last fight however was a unanimous decision loss to Jim Miller at UFC 155, but he did earn FOTN honors in the process. Joe, a Massachusetts native, pounded out and submitted Gabe Ruediger in his last Boston appearance at UFC 118.
Johnson (12-8) looked to be an emerging prospect at 155 lbs, but now he's just as likely to be out of the UFC with another defeat. The TUF 12 runner-up had won his first 3 fights of 2012, but has dropped his last two to Myles Jury (by decision) and Reza Madadi (by submission).
UFC on FS1 1, which I'm now just going to call UFC on FS1: Boston from now on, will air live on Fox Sports 1 on Saturday, August 17th. The main card airs from 8 PM ET to 11 PM ET, while the preliminary card airs on the same channel at 6 PM ET. The only other fight confirmed for this card is a welterweight matchup between Thiago Alves and Matt Brown.
