UFC Middleweight champ Anderson Silva missed a bunch of media events in Los Angeles to hype his July 6UFC 162 title bout this week and got fined $50,000 by the promotion. Silva claims he hadn't been told about the events.
"I just want to make sure we both get in the fricken' cage July 6," he said. "I'm still worried about that."
The incident made the contender wonder whether there were other surprises in store - an injury, for instance, which not only would dash his dreams but give the UFC a conniption.
"I don't want him to hear this interview and be like, 'Oh, that's a good idea,'" joked Weidman. "So don't use this, Anderson."
Weidman's been very vocal that Silva has no interest in fighting him because he's a very bad style match up for the champ. For his part Silva has been very clear that he only wants "big fights" for the rest of his career, and Weidman is not a big money opponent despite being the clearest danger to Silva's title reign.
Here's hoping they work it out in the Octagon.
