UFC on Fox 8 takes place on July 27th in Seattle and while there's no line for the main event flyweight title bout between Demetrious Johnson and John Moraga yet, there are lines for two of the other big main card fights. Both will take place in the welterweight division and all four men are currently ranked in the top 10 in the UFC's official rankings. Here are the lines for Jake Ellenberger vs. Rory MacDonald and Tarec Saffiedine vs. Robbie Lawler (via BestFightOdds):
Both of these lines are tricky in my opinion. MacDonald hasn't fought anyone like Ellenberger before, and that makes the fight very hard to call. I think the line should be slightly closer than it is. MMA Odds Breaker's original analysis had it a little closer (-170/+130) and it's moved all the way to -215/+170 on 5Dimes. So the early money is on Rory Mac. Is that wise? I'm not sure, but that's not a fight I'm interested in betting on.
The other one is completely different. I'm actually shocked that Lawler is such a dog. Once again, MMA Odds Breaker had it at -170/-130 on 5Dimes and it has jumped considerably in Tarec's direction since then. While Saffiedine has a granite chin, I think people are putting way too much stock into his performance against Marquardt. Lawler can strike with almost anyone at 170 and while he's been susceptible to leg kicks in the past, he can definitely take this. I love Lawler at +209, and hope he moves further up closer to fight time.
