In a day featuring cards from the UFC and HBO boxing, it was Glory 6 Istanbul that, for many fans, had the most anticipated fight. And that fight delivered. In the main event, Gokhan Saki knocked out Daniel Ghita in the second round in front of a rabid hometown crowd in Turkey.
Saki already held a win over Ghita from 2010, but this win was different. Where that fight was a brutal war of attrition that went 4 rounds before a Saki decision, this was a more complete Saki victory. The two exchanged shots for the first round, looking very even. At one point in round 1, Saki threw Ghita to the ground. Referee Joob Ubeda inexplicably ruled the throw a knockdown, giving the round to Saki. But it didn't matter, as Saki insured a victory in round 2. Midway through the round, he began landing heavy punches on Ghita and simply did not let up, dropping the durable Ghita three times to take a KO win.
The rest of the card was also excellent, with some great KOs and exciting battles. Get the full results below.
