Looking through the comments of the article announcing Latifi as Gustafssons replacement in the main event of Saturdays UFC card, I saw a lot of people weren't really happy about it. The "it" being the Fightmatrix #33 ranked light heavyweight in the world stepping up to take the fight against the #11 ranked guy at a few days notice, without a full camp or preparation. That's the most gifs and comments I've ever seen that are disappointed that a guy steps up to virtually save an entire fucking event from crumbling under it's own weight.
Sure, Ilir isn't the best fighter in the world, he's got a 7-2 (1 NC) record against... subpar competition. But still, he's a solid wrestler and a decent all-round competitor, with wins coming via (T)KO, submission and decision. His last fight was the main event of Superior Challenge 8, in my home town. He didn't face the best guy in the world, but he put in a solid performance and got his hand raised at the end of the night.
And now, he'll face Gegard Mousasi. And you're shitting on him for that. Sure, he might not win (though I hope he does), but at least he'll go in there and fight. On short notice. Against a guy ranked 22 spots above him. That's not worthy of a "disappointed NPH"-gif, that's worthy of a standing ovation.
So instead of being mad, give the man a round of applause, sit your asses down in front of your tv on Saturday and watch him fight. Who knows, he might surprise you.
Oh, stop the "Queen Latifa"-bullshit, it wasn't even funny the first time.
