This Saturday May 4, Showtime boxing presents the first major boxing PPV event of 2013 - May Day: Mayweather vs. Guerrero. It's a chance to watch boxing's #1 pound for pound fighter Floyd Mayweather do what he does best. Attempting to end the undefeated streak of Money Mayweather will be Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero, coming in off his 2012 defeat of Andre Berto.
Showtime Boxing Mayweather vs. Guerrero airs this Saturday, May 4 live on pay-per-view with a fight time of 9:00 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT. Bloody Elbow will have live fight night coverage, including results and discussion.
In the lead-up to the fight, Showtime is posting a number of full fight videos, including Mayweather's controversial KO of Victor Ortiz, and Guerrero scoring a 1 minute KO over Matin Honorio back in 2007. But one of their fights is of particular interest for fans tuning in to Mayweather vs. Guerrero.
In the summer of 2007, Mayweather faced off with the tough Ricky Hatton. At the time, both fighters were undefeated, and while Floyd was the favorite, Hatton was definitely not a fighter to be written off. The resulting fight was a hard-nosed affair, with Hatton really bringing the fight to the more technically accomplished Mayweather.

What is particularly telling about this fight is the way Mayweather handled Hatton's pressure inside. This strategy - get inside and make it a dog fight - is how Guerrero will probably have to fight if he hopes to have any luck Saturday night. But against Ricky Hatton, Mayweather showed that he's not only a great technical fighter, he can also beat you in a close quarters shoot out if he needs to. More than any other fight, Mayweather vs. Hatton provides a good potential barometer for what to expect from Mayweather vs. Guerrero. And if that's the case, then May 4 is likely not going to be a good night for The Ghost.
