UFC 159 results: Cody McKenzie has lackluster decision win over Leonard Garcia

Esther Lin for MMA Fighting

Cody McKenzie took a dull win over Leonard Garcia in a fight for UFC survival.

Capping off the Facebook prelims for UFC 159, Featherweights Leonard Garcia and Cody McKenzie met in the Octagon. Coming in the fight was expected to be nothing but action as both fighters are well liked in terms of entertainment, but in one of those odd MMA moments the fight was very plodding.

It was a domination by Cody McKenzie, who was able to use a single leg takedown series to get Garcia to the ground and repeatedly take the former WEC fighter's back. McKenzie threatened a few of signature guillotine chokes, but Garcia was able to fend them off. On the feet Garcia showed some signs of life, but this fight was all McKenzie as two judges gave the fight to 30-27, while one judge gave a round to Garcia, somehow.

All in all this was pretty slow fight and very well could be Garica's last in the UFC.
