The first two fights of the UFC on Fox 7: Henderson vs. Melendez card presented fans with two candidates for KO of the Night as Anthony Njokuani's picture perfect left hook KO of Roger Bowling and Yoel Romero's flying knee KO of Clifford Starks presented pugilistic perfection.
Njokuani plays matador and gores bully Bowling
Njokuani took a round to find his timing but eventually Bowling charged forward once too often and ate a text book left hook to the face that had him out on his feet. The Nigerian import didn't need any follow up strikes to end it and he walked away from his prone prey.
The first round saw Bowling leaping forward and landing punches and body kicks before scoring with a perfect double leg take down. From there it was all Njokuani though. He quickly stood back up and fed Bowling a sharp serving of kicks and punches in combination.
Njokuani improves to 3-3 in the UFC and 16-7 (1 NC) overall. Bowling drops his UFC debut and falls to 11-4 overall. This was his second straight loss so Bowling might be on the cut list.
UFC on Fox 7 results: Anthony Njokuani def. Roger Bowling via KO at 2:52 of Round 2.
Romero makes flashy UFC debut at Starks' expense
Former Cuban Olympic wrestler Yoel Romero didn't show off much of his grappling technique against Clifford Starks. Instead he wowed Joe Rogan with side kicks, a hook kick and a masterfullly timed flying knee to the face that finished Starks instantly.
Romero improves to 5-1 with the win in his UFC debut. He lost to Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante at Light Heavyweight in his sole Strikeforce outing. Starks devolves to 1-2 in the UFC and 8-2 overall. Look for Starks in a smaller promotion for his next bout.
