Knockouts seem to be the prevailing theme of the UFC On Fox 7 so far and neither Mendes nor Jury felt like breaking the trend.

These last three fights from the FX portion of the UFC On Fox prelims featured a ton of action from the 145, 185, and 155 lb. divisions. In the top bout, former contender Chad Mendes looked to end the 6 fight win streak of Darren Elkins.

Chad Mendes vs. Darren Elkins

Both Featherweights came out looking to strike from range. Each moved in and out trying to land significant blows. It was Mendes who landed big first with a big overhand right. Elkins was rocked but backed off and tried to recover. It didn't happen though. Mendes came right back in to land another big right hand that forced referee Herb Dean to pull him off Elkins.

Chad Mendes knocked out Darren Elkins at 1:08 of round 1.

Francis Carmont vs. Lorenz Larkin

This Middleweight scrap turned into a clear striker vs. grappler fight from the beginning. Carmont struggled to secure the takedown on Larkin in the first. At one point, he raised Larkin's leg above his own shoulder but was still unable to get him down. That allowed Larkin to get more comfortable on the feet and land some of his infamous kicks. It wasn't until the final round that Carmont really found success with his takedowns. He tripped Larkin a couple times, then got on top toward the end of the round. Larkin was able to grab an arm and hit a kimura sweep to end the round on top. Unfortunately for Larkin, all three judges scored the fight 29-28 for Carmont.

Ramsey Nijem vs. Myles Jury

The Lightweights engaged in a furious ground battle in the first round of their fight. Ramsey did his best to work from the top but repeatedly found himself being threatened by the wily Jury. But the fight never made it back to the ground. Early in the second, Jury accidentally poked Ramsey in the eye during an exchange. After the action was restarted, Nijem swung wild with a left hook, but ate an absolutely vicious counter right from Jury that put him out cold. Jury immediately jumped on him to land another hard shot before John McCArthy stopped the fight.
