Hooray! You can finally edit your comments and collapse any comment you choose on Bloody Elbow

You asked, you asked, you pleaded, you threatened to burn Chris Hall at the stake and sacrifice him to the Sherdog forums if you didn't get what you asked for, but SB Nation has given you exactly what you wanted ... and MORE!

Everyone makes typographical errors in their comments. Previously you couldn't correct them, and embarrassing moments such as "I love the cock" were irreversible. Well ladies and gents, feast your eyes on this:

We told you earlier this week that they were coming and now they are here: Editable Comments are now live on all SB Nation sites. Try it out here or on your favorite SB Nation site. To read more about it, check out the post from Tuesday.

If you notice any bugs with the new capabilities, please send a note to and be sure to include your system specs: hardware, OS, browser, etc. We'll work to address them as quickly as possible.

Here's the deal as far as editing your own comments:

  • From the time you publish a comment, a timer will appear on the bottom. You'll have 90 seconds to edit what you need to edit. After that, it's locked and there's nothing you can do about it. You cannot go back to comments you made in September and start changing crap like a wiseass.
  • If you do edit a comment, other users can't see you change it live like Google Docs. They can only see the edited comments after the page has been refreshed. So "I love the cock" moments aren't going away forever.

In addition to editable comments, you can now collapse any comment you choose. If you see a ton of people using GIFs but NOT using the subject line, you can close those with the little arrows you see when you hover to the left of the subject line. You can also collapse subthreads, sub-subthreads, and subthreads within subthreads, making for a subception.

You can probably expect more changes and tweaks to these new features once reader feedback and suggestions come in, but for now just enjoy these new toys at Bloody Elbow and throughout SB Nation.
