UFC on Fox 8 gets another feature fight in Julie Kedzie vs. Germaine de Randamie. Kedzie is one of WMMA's longtime veterans, which is hard to believe considering she's only 32. With an 8 year, 27 fight career under her belt she's among the most experienced fighters in all of women's MMA. Carrying a third degree blackbelt in Taekwondo, Kedzie has a penchant for an open, brawling style of fight. Longtime fans will remember her recent loss to Miesha Tate as one of the great fights of 2012. Lately, she's had an increased role as a broadcast commentator (which she's excellent at) working primarily with Invicta, so hopefully that hasn't been too much of a distraction from her training.
Opposite her, Germaine de Randamie, is a relative unknown to MMA fans. And while her MMA resume is paper thin, she carries with her a wealth of Kickboxing and Muay Thai experience, with mulitple world titles and the record for most consecutive victories (no draws) in women's kickboxing history at 37. She's coming off a win over Hiroko Yamanaka at Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman and is making her return to bantamweight after a two fight stint at featherweight.
This fight has all the makings of a standup war. And in an event that is quickly filling up with exciting, competitive fights, stands out as an early candidate for fight of the night.
UFC on Fox 8 goes down in Seattle on July 27. Here's what the card looks like so far:
