TUF Finale 17 results: Tate/Zingano, Browne, and Pineda get $50K bonuses

USA TODAY Sports

With the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter behind us, take a look at what fighters stood out at the Finale event.

Saturday night, Kelvin Gastelum pulled off a huge upset over Uriah Hall to become the newest Ultimate Fighter. In The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, Gastelum picked up a very close split decision victory by exploiting Hall's takedown defense weakness. In the main event, Urijah Faber finished Scott Jorgensen with a rear naked choke in the fourth round of their fight. but 3 other fights stole the attention of the UFC brass and won the fight night bonuses.

The 3 awards were announced by the UFC during the post-fight press conference:

Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano put on a back fourth war to earn the Fight of the Night award. It wasn't until the closing minutes of the fight that Zingano was able to put the finishing touch on her performance with a series of knees that caused the stoppage. Travis Browne looked like he'd be fighting off his back as he defended the takedown from Gabriel Gonzaga. Instead, he blasted Gonzaga with elbows that dropped the former contender. In the opening fight of the night, Daniel Pineda recovered from a two fight losing streak by torquing a kimura that forced Justin Lawrence to tap.
