Al Iaquinta withdraws from UFC 159 following leg injury

Not even a day after Al Iaquinta's opponent Joe Proctor was forced off of UFC 159 with an injury, Iaquinta himself is off the card with an injured leg.

When Joe Proctor pulled out from his UFC 159 fight with Al Iaquinta, recent winners Conor McGregor and Bobby Green both volunteered their services on short notice. It turns out that Iaquinta isn't fighting either, as Fightline reports:

"I have been training through an injury to my leg the past six weeks, re-injuring it again a little more seriously last Saturday," said Iaquinta, in an interview with FightLine Thursday. "I was going to push through it and fight anyway. When I heard Joe pulled out, I decided not to fight at UFC 159 and rehab my injury back to 100-percent before taking another fight."

It's certainly unfortunate news for Iaquinta, who has not fought since losing the TUF 15 final against Michael Chiesa last June.

That leaves the UFC with 12 fights instead of a scheduled 13. No word on whether they'll go on with 12 fights or try and hastily book a "replacement" 13th fight with less than three weeks before the event date.
