Soudtrack: Children of the Damned
Alright, Mookie tells me he's going to pull this thing soon, and so I wasn't going to post a thread for it. But then he didn't and I got bored... So here I am.
Moves upon moves lately in the UFC, but mostly sound and fury signifying nothing. Dana says he's cutting 100 fighters but so far only three have left the promotion since that announcement.
Jon Manley was cut backstage after his loss to Neil Magney, which is harsh as hell, and if you want to see it happen you can watch it here. Also Jason MacDonald retired, which is a good thing. He had a long scrappy career, and did surprisingly well for himself over his 7 years and 14 fights in the UFC. It's always nice to see a guy hang em up when its time. And of course they cut Matt Riddle too, which is sort of my consolation prize for watching him fight.
In recent acquisitions. The UFC has signed Estevan Payan, a Strikeforce leftover who's probably at the peak of his career (he's 30) who will enter the octagon against Jeremy Stephens at UFC 160. They've also picked up Woman 135-er Sheila Gaff, who not only looks like a badass, but is coming in to the UFC off three straight KO victories. She'll be fighting Sara McMann at UFC 159. UPDATED: Soa Palelei is on his way back to the UFC.
That's all the real news I can think of at the moment. There are some prospects out there I'm keeping an eye on, but you'll know about their signings as soon as I do. Anway, here's a few goodies:
As always feel free to talk about what ever you want, send me your love, hate, random thoughts or questions, and I'll try and answer them with my accumulated knowledge, or just rant at you. And follow me on twitter if you want to hear about UFC roster changes as they happen.
Updated: Fedorable has pointed out that I'm probably totally wrong. I think he might be totally right. I am removing Manley from the cuts list until better info comes out.
