One of the biggest bouts announced for UFC 162 on July 6th will see top featherweight contenders Ricardo Lamas and Chan Sung Jung face off for a probable title shot, and the fight now has a betting line. Lamas has been the much more active fighter lately, and it's not very surprising that the early line favors him. Here's a look at it (via BestFightOdds):
Lamas (13-2) is coming off a big win on the main card of UFC on Fox 6 where he defeated Erik Koch by TKO. He is on a four-fight winning streak overall. Jung (13-3) hasn't competed in almost a year due to shoulder surgery, but picked up a stoppage win over Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC on Fuel 3 in his last bout. Their respective wins seemingly earned each man a UFC featherweight title shot, but circumstance has stuck them in a number one contenders bout instead.
As for betting, I'd lean strongly toward betting on the Korean Zombie right now. Yes he's been out for a long time and fighters don't have great track records in their first fight back after shoulder surgery, but I think he's the better fighter overall and can take this. I don't think the line is going to get any better for Jung, so I'm betting on him now and I'd advise you to do the same at that price.
