Matt Riddle and a different bald guy from the UFC - Anne-Marie Sorvin-US PRESSWIRE
Matt Riddle has some surprisingly strong words for Dana White in the wake of his release from the UFC.
Matt Riddle isn't known for being the quiet type, and he has certainly not taken to silence after either of his two positive tests for marijuana metabolites following his last two UFC bouts. The second failed drug test also led to Riddle's release from the promotion, as well as his already controversial win over Che Mills being turned into a no contest.
Riddle, who claims to have a medical prescription for marijuana, has spoken about it being unfair to be cut for "taking his medicine" as well as calling them out for -- what he perceives to be -- hypocritical behavior for not cutting the more "exciting fighter" in Dave Herman who has also picked up two suspensions for weed related failed drug tests while under the UFC banner.
Now he may have burned all his bridges with the UFC when he said the following in an interview with Stephanie Joplin Sports when asked about Dana White's comments that Riddle was cut "because he's a moron:"
"I really don’t have a reaction to it because, to be honest, Dana White…it’s sad but he’s uneducated to the sport and the industry. He’s calling me a moron for using my medicine when half his fighters are on steroids. It’s pretty offensive, but at the same time, I am looking at the source, and he can’t help himself."
He goes on, "Even now, I don’t have a dislike for Dana White or the UFC. But really, he’s just a juice monkey who’s bald, who doesn’t know sh** about business. He just yells the F word and expects things to be handed to him."
"What should I do?" He asks me. "Should I get angry? Find out where Dana’s house is in Vegas? Ask him why the f**k did you fire me? Dana White should be thankful I am on medication!" He’s kidding, guys.
Even if joking about the last bit, I don't know that calling White a "juice monkey" and stating that he doesn't know anything about business isn't exactly a ticket back to the most lucrative stage available to a mixed martial artist.
He's right about that bald part though.
