Promotional newcomer Eddie Mendez fights Daniel Sarafian at UFC on Fuel 10

Esther Lin, MMAFighting

Former Strikeforce fighter Eddie Mendez will make his UFC debut against TUF Brazil's Daniel Sarafian at UFC on Fuel 10.

Another fight is scheduled for the UFC's 10th Fuel TV event. Strikeforce middleweight Eddie Mendez (7-0-1, 1 NC) will fight TUF Brazil's Daniel Sarafian (7-3) on June 8th. Tatame first reported the bout, but the UFC has not made it official.

Mendez tried to make his UFC debut at UFC on FX 6 in December against Nick Penner, but an injury left him off the card, and he was replaced by fellow newcomer Cody Donovan. His sole fight in Strikeforce was a split decision nod over Fernando Gonzalez in December 2011.

Sarafian (7-3) was a finalist on TUF Brazil 1, but he injured himself before the finale against Cezar Ferreira, and Sergio Moraes (who he beat by KO on the show) replaced him. Daniel did make his UFC debut this past January in the co-main event of UFC on FX 7, earning FOTN honors but ultimately losing a split decision against C.B. Dollaway.

It is likely that this fight airs on the preliminary card. UFC on Fuel 10 is headlined by heavyweights and TUF Brazil 2 coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum.
