Jake Who? The KOTN Winner's Awesome, Forgotten Weekend

If I was Jake Ellenberger I'd demand a rider on my contract: never put me on a card with Nick Diaz again unless I'm fighting him.

Let's review how Jake's weekend went. He was featured on a card that was styled as a "mini-tournament" of the best 170-pounders on the planet. He beat a top-10 guy, and former MW standout, in the first round, taking home KOTN honors in the process. He probably moves to number three in the rankings and sets himself up for a title eliminator. Oh, and the guy he beat? He's been KO'd exactly once in his career ... by Anderson Silva.

On any other weekend, Jake would be enjoying at least a portion of the limelight. But in the wake of the pre- and post-fight madness that is Diaz fight week, he got bupkis.

On BE, the three stories about Ellenberger's fight (fight night story, recap and video highlights) garnered a total of 13 combined comments. At the pre- and post- fight UFC press conferences Jake got a total of one question (the answer to which, Nick interrupted). Off the top of my head, I cannot think of a top-10, main-card KOTN winner who has garnered less interest for his trouble.

Anyway, I figured in all the arguing about Nick and GSP and whatnot, I'd give a shout out to Jake, who looked like a beast, and possibly managed a gif-worthy moment to trump the sad, solitary tear.
