Rick Story (14-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC) and Quinn Mulhern (18-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will be the first of an incredible six welterweight fights on the UFC 158 card tonight from Montreal, QC. The biggest 170 lbs bout of them all is obviously Georges St. Pierre versus Nick Diaz for GSP's title.
It's hard to believe that Rick Story finds himself on the Facebook prelims for the 2nd time in 3 fights. Mulhern is making his UFC debut following several fights in Strikeforce. Their fight will close the Facebook broadcast, which starts at approximately 6:40 PM ET/3:40 PM PT. FX has the rest of the prelims at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT.

What have these two done recently?
How did these two get here?
After Story lost his UFC debut to John Hathaway, "The Horror" won six consecutive fights over the likes of Dustin Hazelett, Johny Hendricks, and Thiago Alves to vault himself into title contention. Story then made a huge choice to fight Nate Marquardt on short-notice in June 2011, only a few weeks removed from his victory over Alves. When Marquardt was pulled and then released from the UFC, Story fought Charlie Brenneman instead and lost by decision. Counting the Brenneman loss he's just 1-3 in his last 4, and was stopped for the first time in his career when he was submitted by Demian Maia at UFC 153.
Mulhern was the #8 ranked welterweight on the 2010 BE Scouting Report. At the time of the report he had recently defeated UFC veteran Rich Clementi by TKO. In June 2011 he debuted in Strikeforce, losing to Jason High by decision. He's since won his last three, and made it to the UFC as part of the move from Strikeforce once they closed operations.
Why should you care?
It was only two years ago that Rick Story was one of the bright talents in the UFC, and now he's possibly fighting for his job. Can he resurrect himself or will Mulhern pull off the upset? You have to care and watch to find out.
