A featherweight tilt with massive title implications is set for UFC 162 on July 6th, as Ricardo Lamas fights Chan Sung Jung, better known as the Korean Zombie.
The UFC's Independence Day weekend card just received a huge addition to its lineup, as Ricardo Lamas fights Chan Sung Jung on July 6th in Las Vegas. This highly important featherweight bout was enthusiastically confirmed by the UFC themselves on Twitter:
Ooohhhhh! "@ufcespanol: Yeah!!! @ricardolamasmmavs @koreanzombiemma en #UFC162, 6 de Julio en Las Vegas"
— UFC (@ufc) March 14, 2013
Lamas (13-2) has been on a tear at FW, with a 4-0 record and wins over Hatsu Hioki, Cub Swanson, and Erik Koch on his resume. The Koch fight was his most recent victory at UFC on Fox 6, and it was a violent TKO stoppage achieved through brutal ground-and-pound.
Korean Zombie (13-3) has not fought since May 2012, when he submitted Dustin Poirier in one of the best fights of the year. That brought his record to 3-0 in the UFC after an 0-2 start in the WEC. He's finished all of his UFC opposition, including the memorable "twister" submission against Leonard Garcia. KZ opted for shoulder surgery following his win over Poirier, hence the layoff.
UFC 162 is headlined by Anderson Silva's latest middleweight title defense, this time against Chris Weidman.
