A quick round up of all the latest news coming out of the Asian MMA scene, including news about ONE FC's Malaysian Amateur MMA circuit, an Asian MMA Summit, URCC Baguio, and bits from Evolve MMA and FCC.

After hosting a show this past weekend in Malaysia, ONE FC's has again partnered up with their top investor from the country to an Amateur MMA circuit to help develop their local talent.

Jason Lo, the CEO of Tune Talk, which was ONE FC's primary sponsor in Kuala Lumpur, made the announcement today that they were launching Malaysian Invasion MMA (MIMMA). They will have a modified ruleset where there will be fighting on 3, 3 minute rounds with no elbows, and no soccer kicks or knees allowed on the ground.

Tryouts will happen on the end of February, which will be open to Malaysian's only. While the country has a handful of top level guys like Adam Kayoom and others, overall the country is still very new to the sport, so this could be a great way to build talent.

The only reservation I have is if the rumors are true about them allowing a few experienced pros in, as if you couple them with true 0-0 amateurs, it could lead to some dangerous mismatches. Those are still unconfirmed rumors though, but that being said, launching multiple amateur circuits on several countries that are only now just getting into the sport, is a great way to build talent and awareness from a grassroots program.

Speaking of amateur circuits, the idea of launching those in different regions was actually sparked during one of the key discussions on the last Asian MMA Summit. It's where the different leaders from the promotions, gyms, managers, and sponsors under the ONE FC network brainstormed and discussed ways to run things and work cohesively, and ONE FC is planning on hosting yet another one on May 2-4.

Like last year's iteration, this will be another invitation-only event where most of the partners of their network gather at Singapore's Marina Bay Sands hotel. Leaders from promotions such as the URCC, DREAM, GLORY and CFC will all gather with several broadcast partners, managers, and fight teams for this 3 day conference. If things go like last year's summit, a few MMA media outlets are also likely to be in attendance to cover it as well.

One of the main gyms that will be well represented on that said summit is Evolve MMA. The fight team has world class facilities in their home base in Singapore, along with one of the most stacked roster of coaches filled with numerous world champions in Muay Thai, BJJ, and wrestling. As they plan on expanding, they're now looking to add 10-15 more members to their fight team.

Rich Franklin, Dan Henderson and Ben Askren have all been beyond impressed during their time training at Evolve, and to be honest, this could be a great opportunity for other fighters looking to get paid big bucks to train and fight full-time while honing their game with one of the best coaching staffs ever assembled.

SFL isn't the only promotion in India, in fact, Full Contact Championship or FCC has been running quietly for quite a while now. The MMA scene is still in their infancy, but this past weekend, FCC hosted their 8th event. Headlining the show in Goa, India was Vishal Balkawade, an Art of War veteran, who improved to 2-1 with his second straight submission win over Tasir Sayed.

The Philippines has a very large fan base when it comes to MMA and combat sports in general, and on March 2nd, the longest running promotion in South East Asia will be looking to further develop that market with yet another provincial show.

Already hosting shows in several provinces outside the capital of Manila, the URCC will once again host a show in Baguio, the mountain province which is home to several gritty and talented champions such as Eric Kelly, Eduard Folayang, Mark Striegl, Kevin Belingon, and Rey Docyogen.

URCC Baguio 5 will be headlined by featherweight prospect, Will Chope as he continues his campaign for a title shot when he faces Egly Diaz. Also on the card are Team Lakay products Roldan Sangcha-an and Dave Galera. Check out the full line up below, along with their respective fight teams:
