Bloody Elbow looks at the next UFC event two weeks from Saturday, a FUEL TV show in London with the interim bantamweight title on the line, as Renan Barao fights Michael McDonald in the main event.
The UFC is finally giving the UK a title fight after a 6 year drought, albeit an "interim" one. With Dominick Cruz out for possibly all of 2013, I think you should have it in your head that this is anything but interim. UFC on Fuel TV 7 sees bantamweight champion Renan Barao face Michael McDonald in the main event, and a win by McDonald will see him break Jon Jones' record for youngest champion in UFC history.
As you will soon gather, this is a pretty good card. Cub Swanson fights Dustin Poirier (subbing for the injured Dennis Siver) in a FW fight with possible title implications, Icelandic prospect Gunnar Nelson fights Jorge Santiago (subbing in for the injured Justin Edwards), and Jimi Manuwa fights Cyrille Diabate in a light-heavyweight striking matchup. The legendary Che Mills -- AKA "his eliteness" -- fights TUF 7 alum Matt Riddle to open up the Fuel broadcast.
Mark your calendars for February 16th for some daytime MMA, here's what the full card looks like:
