Joe Camporeale-US PRESSWIRE
A couple of betting odds are in for the UFC 158 co-main event between Johny Hendricks and Carlos Condit, with Hendricks as the slight favorite in this one.
Rory MacDonald was slated to rematch Carlos Condit in the co-main event of UFC 158 in Montreal on March 16th, but an injury forced him out and forced the UFC to do some card reshuffling. Johny Hendricks, who was due to fight Jake Ellenberger, replaced MacDonald and now fights Condit, while Nate Marquardt returns to the UFC to fight Ellenberger. A couple of betting websites (5Dimes and Sportbet) put up some opening lines, and Hendricks came in as the early favorite. Those numbers did change overnight, but you can take a look at the updated odds below:
Note that the above widget is updated in real-time, so while it reads +109 for Condit and -120 for Hendricks right now, expect that to change. Condit opened at +125 and +131 on 5Dimes and Sportbet respectively.
I'm by no means a gambling expert, but those are great odds for Condit. As great as Hendricks has been, his pattern in the UFC has been to alternate finishes with narrow decisions. His last three KO/TKO finishes (Jon Fitch, T.J. Waldburger, Charlie Brenneman) were subsequently followed up with two split decision wins over Josh Koscheck and Mike Pierce, and a unanimous decision loss to Rick Story. Hendricks' last fight was a KO over Martin Kampmann, and Condit has never been KO'd in his career, so there's more than a good chance he doesn't dominate or even win this one.
As for Carlos Condit, according to his history on BestFightOdds, he has been either an opening line underdog or available at at least +101 at fight time in all of his UFC bouts except against Jake Ellenberger.
