Entertaining Brazilian flyweight John Lineker is set to welcome Azamat Gashimov to the 125 lbs division at UFC on FX 8 in May.
Another fight is targeted for UFC on FX 8 in Brazil this May, as flyweight John Lineker fights Russia's Azamat Gashimov, who is making the drop to 125 lbs for this one. MMA Junkie confirmed the news yesterday:
Flyweights John Lineker (20-6 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Azamat Gashimov (7-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) are the latest additions to UFC on FX 8.
Lineker dropped his debut via 2nd round submission to Louis Gaudinot at UFC on Fox 3 last May, but earned FOTN honors along the way. The Brazilian notched his first UFC win in November by defeating Yasuhiro Urushitani by unanimous decision in Macau.
Gashimov's first UFC fight occurred exactly one week after Lineker defeated Urushitani. The Russian was on the wrong end of a brutal armbar by Ivan Menjivar in a bantamweight bout, and now he's making the move to flyweight in what has to be a must-win for him.
UFC on FX 8 is set for May 18th in Santa Catarina, Brazil, with the main card airing live on FX (shocker ... I know), and the prelims will be on Fuel and Facebook.
