Jacob Volkmann has joined World Series of Fighting less than a week after the UFC released the 32-year-old lightweight.
It didn't take long for lightweight Jacob Volkmann to find a new home. The former UFC fighter has joined World Series of Fighting, and will likely debut in June. MMA Fighting has the details:
The lightweight has signed a multi-fight contract with World Series of Fighting, Al Abdel Aziz, the promotion's executive vice president and matchmaker, confirmed with MMAFighting.com Tuesday night.
The 32-year-old is expected to debut for WSOF in June at the promotion's third event.
Volkmann was cut last week following a loss to Bobby Green at UFC 156, which marked his 2nd loss in his last 3 fights. He left the UFC with a 6-4 record but a 5-2 run at lightweight.
Immediately after his release, Volkmann contacted Bellator to see if they were interested in his services, but they were booked through the summer. Other notable ex-UFC fighters who have signed with WSOF include Josh Burkman, Gerald Harris, Ronys Torres, and Anthony Johnson.
