Joe Camporeale-US PRESSWIRE
Featherweights Steven Silver and Jimy Hettes are set to face off on the preliminary card of UFC 159 in Newark, New Jersey on April 27th.
UFC 159 has another fight scheduled, and this time it's out of the featherweight division. Steven Siler was supposed to fight Jimy Hettes last year in Atlantic City, NJ, but an injury to Hettes put their matchup on the shelf. Well according to Siler himself, Sean Shelby has matched them up yet again, this time in Newark:
Just sign the contract, get to fight in New Jersey again at #ufc159 April 27 vs jimy the kid hettes
— Steven Siler (@Stevesiler) February 22, 2013
Siler (21-10 MMA, 3-1 UFC) fought Joey Gambino instead of Hettes on that Atlantic City card, earning a 1st round submission win. The TUF 14 alum's unbeaten start to his UFC career ended at the hands of Darren Elkins at UFC 154.
Hettes (10-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) impressed in his first two UFC fights against Alex Caceres and Nam Phan, and the 25-year-old looked to be a potential new contender at 145. An upset loss to Marcus Brimage at UFC 152 has momentarily brought that discussion to a halt. And given the impending roster cuts over the next few weeks, things could take a drastic turn for the worse if either one of them loses again.
