Dana White has confirmed that 16 fighters have been released from the UFC.
Earlier today we reported that UFC Lightweight Jacob Volkmann had been released by the UFC after his most recent loss. Well, it looks like he was only one of 15 other fighters, including former Welterweight contender Jon Fitch.
Wednesday afternoon, MMA Fighting confirmed the complete list of cuts with UFC president Dana White:
UFC president Dana White also confirmed with MMAFighting.com that the following fighters were also let go: Wagner Prado, Mike Russow,Jacob Volkmann, Vladimir Matyushenko, Che Mills, Jay Hieron,Terry Etim, Paul Sass, Jorge Santiago, Mike Stumpf, Simeon Thoresen, C.J. Keith, Motonobu Tezuka, Josh Grispi and Ulysses Gomez.
While each fighter listed is coming off at least one loss, there are some controversial decisions here without a doubt. I'm not sure how the UFC can possibly defend keeping Leonard Garcia on the roster while cutting a top 10 fighter like Fitch.
