Alistair Overeem showed no respect for Antonio Silva, and it cost him dearly. The former K-1 champion engaged with Bigfoot in the first round with his hands down and chin up, begging Silva to come at him. Overeem was able to control the first round on the feet and the second on the ground, but Silva gained a glimpse of hope with a solid rally at the end of the second. And in the third, he made Overeem pay by knocking him out. The finish came at just 25 seconds of the final round.

The first half of the opening round alternated between Overeem landing a strike and the two men clinching against the cage. Bigfoot went for a takedown but Overeem fought it off and clinched once again. Overeem turned up the volume of his knees a bit in close but didn't do a ton of damage. Overeem was the one landing the strikes from distance, but neither guy was pressing the action much over the first five minutes.

After an exchange of strikes early in the third, Overeem hit a throw and worked from side control. Bigfoot landed two elbows which made Overeem back out and re-engage in his guard instead. The Reem was more effective from there, working the body and head with rights. Overeem wasn't showing a ton of urgency, but he controlled the pretty much the entire round on top. Silva made the most of his 30 seconds on the feet by landing a few shots at the end.

Bigfoot came out like a house on fire in the third though, and clipped Overeem immediately. Silva totally poured it on and battered Overeem against the cage with uppercuts and rights until one final shot turned out his lights.
