After losing most of the striking exchanges at their ONE FC 7 bout, Shinichi Kojima managed to secure a guillotine choke in his title eliminator against Rey Docyogen.
Result: Shinichi Kojima def. Rey Docyogen by Submission (Guillotine Choke), R2
In the co-main event of the ONE FC 7 card, unbeaten Wushu expert and URCC Pinweight (119 lbs.) Champion Rey Docyogen took on former Shooto Champion 'BJ' Shinichi Kojima in a flyweight title eliminator. Kojima was used to be considered as one of the best flyweights in the planet, and Docyogen is a Filipino rising star who took a huge step up in competition to get tested in the ONE FC cage.
Early in the round, Docyogen landed a really good body kick, but shortly after, Kojima landed a good takedown, and the two men scramble and compete in a grueling clinch battle. After they separate, it was the Wushu expert, for most of the first round peppering Kojima with good kicks and measured left hands.
The second round was more of the same, with Docyogen landing good very hard kicks, utilizing his unique striking style. For extended periods, it was Dogyogen dominating the striking battles. With a few portions left on the round though, Kojima jumped up and was able to secure a guillotine choke for an impressive comeback finish.
The loss is the first for the Filipino, but he was also looking great until that costly mistake got him submitted. With the submission win, Kojima earns a title shot for the inaugural ONE FC flyweight championship.
